AK Tareen meets Hon’ble John Howard, former Prime Minister of Australia

Mr.AK Tareen had the pleasure and privilege of meeting with the former Prime Minister of Australia, Mr. John Howard, in Melbourne.

During their meeting, Mr.Howard fondly recalled his visit to Chennai in March 2006, the first ever visit by an Australian Prime Minister, when Mr. Tareen had the opportunity to assist with his visit program in his official capacity. Mr.Howard had then announced the opening of a brand new Australian consulate in Chennai and also visited the MRF Pace Foundation run by legend Dennis Lillee.

Mr.Howard is the oldest living Australian former Prime Minister and has the distinction of being the 2nd longest served Prime Minister in the history of Australia. He is a huge cricket fan and looks quite fit and sharp at 84.

Mr.Tareen complimented him on his impressive address on ‘Global leadership’ at the 5000th meeting of the Rotary Club of Melbourne and invited him to visit India again. Mr.Howard replied that he would love to come back to India if we could put up a decent cricket match for him!
